The plastic cover that you are refering to can be removed BUT it must be
installed when using the cap driver. This plastic cover is the holder/guide
for the main shaft of the cap driver. I have yet to see a need to remove
this cover for sewing any garment.

The foward screw in this cover is an extremly close fit inside the shaft
hole. On a tech call, we had a new Amaya that the client was unable to
install the cap driver. We discovered 2 washers had been placed on this
forward screw that allowed the head of the screw to protrude down into the
shaft hole by about a 1/32 of an inch. this would then not allow the cap
driver shaft to pass by it.
