When I called my server they were already working on it. Evidently it is not
just them that is getting booted-its all over the country. I guess on of their
'accounts' had written his 'own' program to harvest emails for his business and
as soon as he sent out several hundred emails and had a high percentage of bad
addresses-it kicked off a 'spammer' alarm. But that blocked anyone through my
server from emailing to (so far) aol, msn, and comcast.
I can still send out emails to others on different servers, and reply through
websites but until they get the 'bug' out those major email sites just kick it
back.
I'm all MAC here so everything you mention means nothing to me (firewall,
extention problems, etc.). No antivirus on any of my macs...never had any
viruses hit me! Hurray for Macs...solid as a hard apple...LOL. My servor
catches 95% of all that spam stuff-but the newest spam using 'your own email'
as a return address there's nothing I can do...except delete it as I find it. I
probably get an average of 40-60 'spam' emails a day-every couple of days the
'postini' lets me know it's time to check it for anything that I did want.
Usually the only ones I have to let through come from amayausers.com!
The only PC I use that is networked has all 'auto update' and stuff shut right
off-and I only have it on my ethernet to send files to the printer driver-so
never a problem there.
While you PC folk chew your fingernails down worrying about viruses...us MAC
users just keep rolling along!
