It does not seem to be the art work,
I have been playing with your file and it can be restored by creating another
fill shape with the correct properties and then copying the properties to your
clip board and then pasting into all the effected shapes then they work
normally. but they don't respond to adjusting as you said.
This is going to eat at me till I figure this out.
