Hi Kiran,

Despite these limitations, it must be said that this site can act as a one-stop venue for a great deal of information which is fully available as RSS feeds. In addition to news sites, there are several newsletters which have RSS feeds. It is a lot more convenient to read them here rather than get them in the mailbox.

Hi all,

This is indeed an exceptional piece of software. I subscribe to more than 15
RSS feeds and using this tool has helped me cut down my reading time
immensely.

However, one should note that this software can only retrieve those articles
which the websites provide as RSS feeds. RSS is a technology by which a
client on your machine or a website can obtain the title of an article, a
short description and an http link to the full article. This information has
to be provided by the website. It is not necessary that the sites will
offer all articles through RSS. Infact, most sites only offer a small
percentage of articles in this way. There are a lot of RSS readers which can
retrieve this information. However, the application developed by Gaurang's
company takes this a step forward and retrieves the entire text of the
article without any extraneous information and presents it in a clean and
simple interface. It does an exceptional job at this.

I just wanted to clarify the difference between a full fledged news website
and the RSS feeds offered by these websites. If one relies only on RSS
feeds, there is a very good chance that they will loose considerable
percentage of content. For instance, a lot of us know the amount of content
offered on the Indian Express website. However, the RSS feeds of Indian
Express only cover breaking news and frontpage articles.

Regards,
Kiran.

This is indeed an amazing piece of software.
I must confess that until I tried this software, I was strongly convinced
that I could do without rSS readers.
But this will henceforth be the only site I will visit every morning for my
daily news updates. my

A hearty thanks to Gaurang and all the others who worked to develop this
software.

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for the compliments.

I would like to mention here that we have now improved the user
interface.
The new interface is completely HTML based, and all you require is a web
browser.

Now, you do not need any Java or any other special software to use the
interface for AccessibleNews.

Thus, the interface should work in most browsers without any special
settings or modifications.

Best regards,
Gaurang Kanvinde.

Hi Aruni
The linked well on my machine. One clue I can give is tha the software
is jawa based thus you might need to enable jawa in your browser
settings.

The interface is commendable and makes life really easy for reading
news papers. I have tried the Hindu news paper and it worked very well
with it.

My complements to Gaurang for this effort.
Thanks
Dipendra

Dear friends,

I would like to introduce to you an online tool that makes news sites
accessible with screen readers. The tool is called AccessibleNews and
is available at http://www.proaxsysreader.com/accessiblenews/
It removes all the links, graphics and advertisements from a typical
news web-page, and makes only the news article available. Thus, you do
not waste time and energy searching for the article from among the
abundant irrelevant
information.

I am a graduate from IIT Bombay, and the founder of a company,
Proaxsys Instruments. AccessibleNews is among our first products.

I invite all of you on this list to use it. I would surely like to get
your
feedback. So please do mail me about your experience of AccessibleNews on
gaurangrk@xxxxxxxxx

Best regards,
Gaurang Kanvinde.
