Jessica, I use playlists to control my sync between iTunes and my iPhone
because I have many more songs in my iTunes library than I want on my phone.
Playlists are presented in the iTunes sidebar provided you have it turned
on. You can toggle it on and off by pressing ctrl + s. The sidebar is where
the components of your iTunes library such as music, movies, etc. are listed
on the left-side of the screen. Playlists are listed at the bottom of the
sidebar provided you have set any up or imported them.

When you have playlists listed, putting focus on one of them will present
the songs included in that list on the main iTunes screen to the right of
the sidebar. If you place focus on the first in that list and start
playback, iTunes will play all the songs in that list.

If you want to only sync certain playlists with your iDevice, connect the
device to your computer and place focus on it in iTunes. Certain tabs or
buttons will be presented at the top of the main iTunes screen and you
should select the music one. Below the buttons is a section titled Sync
Music which should be ticked. There are two radio buttons at the top of this
section where you select either the entire music library or selected
playlists. I've marked the selected playlists button and below that button
is a list of all your playlists which you can tick to mark the ones you wish
to sync.

I told iTunes to sync the whole iTunes lybrary. No. I did not try
to play the playlists in iTunes because I do not know how and I
do not think the playlists made it into iTunes anyhow. I think
just the music files got in. I do know how to play music and I
have done that and it works, but how do you play a playlist in
iTunes?

Jessica, I'm curious if you tried playing the songs on the
imported
playlists while in iTunes. I mean selecting the playlist in
iTunes so the
songs are listed and then selecting a few of them to play.

I had no problem importing the few m3u playlists I've brought
into iTunes
and then using them to control the music I synced with my iPhone.
I assume
you ticked off these playlists as being the music you wanted to
manually
sync with your phone?

Subject: accessible-iOS m3u files and iTunes

I made some playlists in .m3u format and imported them into
iTunes along with the .mp3 music files using the add folder to
library option. Then I synced my iPod with iTunes. The music
synced, but the playlists did not. I mean I can play a song by
going to the songs tab and searching for it or using the table
index to find it alphabetically but I do not see the playlists in
the playlists tab. Please help. Thank you.
