It's now windows live 2011 which upgraded from 2009 after I wrote this.
A friend is the first person who comes in when the whole world has gone out.

which version of windows is she using?
maybe, she needs to set the windows live mail, as the email default in her
web browser?
also, your friend can,
use the f6-key, or, alt+d, to get to the address bar, then copy to
clipboard, and then paste into a email.
