Tek Talk Archives description:

Perkins School for the Blind's Jerry Berrier will discuss the National
Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program, also known as iCanConnect.

iCanConnect is a federally mandated program administered by the Federal
Communications Commission (FCC).

The National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program (NDBEDP) enables
low-income individuals who are deaf-blind to access 21st Century
communications services. This program helps to ensure that qualified
individuals have access to the Internet, and advanced communications,
including interexchange services and advanced telecommunications and
information services.

The program provides outreach, assessments, telecommunications technology
and training free of charge to those who meet federal eligibility
guidelines.

Jerry will give an overview of iCanConnect and Perkins' role in the program,
including who is eligible,

how to apply, and examples of available equipment.
