HI everyone,
OK, I hope this is on topic or appropriate?
I'll give you a breif description of what I done yesterday for the council.

I finally got away from poster designing and was examining a spreadsheet on
employment gains and losses over all employment sectors of Ipswich. I was
mainly concerned with percentage rise and fall.
I was to convert these figures, all the figures into a bar chart, or any
similar chart using the wizard. Well, the charts came out rather messy and
didn't currectly imput all the information in. So, my boss decided that
we'd filter out any gain of 10% or lower to any loss of 10% or lower. they
were more concern with larger gains and losses. So, I had a go with the
excel's filter feature. well, it doesn't, i found out, work to how I want
it. if I wanted to filter out any rows with 0% in them. what the filter
did was to filter out anything other than 0%. i couldn't really find an
option to really tell the filter what I wanted to do. So, i had to do a
work around. I discoverd i couldn't selectively highlight some rows I
wanted, and and others I didnt need. it was all or nothing!
So, I physically looked at all rows, identified what I wanted and recorded
the cell letters and numbers and wrote down the divison number of each
sector in a word doc. I'd enlarge the font to 24 size, print it out and
then, look along the list while using zoomtext's speech to announce the cell
reference letters and numbers Anything not on my list, got deleted.

Now, I must say here, lol, that I did create a back up copy of the stats
spreadsheet. infact it was the copy I created I manipulated! I've created a
cylinder bar chart using the wizard. I've almost finished it but, I've
gotta resize and tidy up the text in the bar chart. So, real tough work
this time!! I really felt i was learning something as, I was exploring
excel's other features I never touch really. i don't use excel much here at
home. I dont have much reason to as yet.

any thoughts on filtering data in excel, or any comments at all, I'd like to
here them. there, soemthing else I'm learning with MS office. <smile>.
