this happened to me 2 weeks ago, and after checking everything i could
for accessibility i settled on a samsung model.
i got the ww90t534dan
this is a 9kg model costing £465 from john lewis and comes with a 5 year
guarantee by registering it with samsung and a 10 year guarantee on the
motor.
they also do a 8kg and i belive a 7kg model with the same specs.
what is great about this model is that it is fully controlable from the
samsung smart things app on a smart phone.
despite the actual machine being a touch panel plus a dial there are
raised markings for visually impared people to feel and then you just
tap above the marking.
but once paired with the app all you need to do is touch the power
symbol on the far left, then touch the smart button on the far right and
your phone will tell you the washing machine is connected to your phone.
then you can either make changes on the phone or turn the dial on the
actual machine and the chosen program will be shown on the phone screen.
you can then adjust things like temp, spin speed, number of rinses and
such like and then tap the start button on the phone or the actual
machine.
the phone screen keeps you informed of what is happening in both time
remaining and what is actually happening in real time like, soaking,
emptying, rinsing, and everything else, and when the program ends a
notification pops up on the phone telling you the wash has finished and
you can now open the door.
this model also has auto dispense containers for washing liquid and
softener which holds enough for about 16 washes.
it also senses how much washing is in the machine and how dirty it is
and dispenses
the correct amount of each liquid.
it has a lot of other features including being able to steam at the end of
the wash to get rid of creases.
so far we are extremely impressed with this machine and as you can see
it's roughly half the cost of the one the rnib recommends and is far
more accessible.
