But if you want to put an SD card in from another device, the Streams get
most upset and won't show you the books, unless you rename the folders.

That's true Steve but hardly an issue, the folders are named so that you
just put your files in the correct places.

Hi,

The downside to the Humanware products is that you have to put things in
their correct folders, such as $vrdtb, $vrmusic, etc.  The Milestone and the
Evos don't care where you put books, they figure it out for themselves.  So
for example, if you have a Daisy book in the Daisy folder of your SD card,
and you take it out of an Evo and put it into a Milestone, it will be picked
up.  If you put it into a Humanware device, it won't, because of their
naming conventions.

Hi Alison

You will no doubt be aware of the Victor Reader Stream and Victor Reader
Trek, they will do all you want and more.  The only thing is that these
devices are larger than the Milestone.  There is also the Evo10 which is
nice to use with better voices than the VRS, and is cheaper too.

It looks like my Milestone is dying! It is over ten years old, so I can't
complain, but before I replace it, I wondered if anyone had any
recommendations.

What I like about the milestone is its size (little bigger than a credit
card) and the fact that it is also a radio, talking clock and has good
recording capacity.

So, folk, before I order another Milestone, any suggestions?

Alison
