Hi there I also have the netgear dg834 router and it works fine.
what you must do is to set it up in the router setup.
if you are stuck email offlist and I will tell you what I did. very quickly
you must connect to the router by going to run and typing the address of
the router.
when connected to the router you have a set up wizard in there.
