Hi Dave,

First, I discovered from the info Steve gave me recently about TALKS
that you do need to put the word SUBSCRIBE (small or caps I should
think) in the header of the message. (I found it infuriating when my
messages kept bouncing and it wasn't until I went on to the WEB site
that I found the reason why!)

You send it to

HYPERLINK
"mailto:Talks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx"Talks-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

As for a suitable phone, if you want to use TALKS then you're going to
need to stick with the list of phones TALKS works with. (Can't reel it
off in my head but know some of them.) If you don't want over-kill but
you're prepared to use TALKS with the usual "phone-type" method for
inputting texts (making letters with the number keys) then you may be
best to look for a slightly older phone going cheaply, perhaps even the
6600. If you want a keyboard type input then you really will have to
look around for the 9210I, which could be considered gross over-kill if
you just want to send messages. However, again a second-hand one,
especially if you really want a keyboard, may meet your needs.

HTH. Call me personally for a chat if you need more and write me for my
number.

Hi All,

I am considering the purchase of a pay as you go mobile phone with
talks. Call charges are not too important as the main use will be for
texting. Any suggestions about phones or providers. I do not want
anything huge that sings and dances, just a basic phone with texting
capabilities with Talks.

Also, Steve Nutt recently sent subscription details of the Talks Users
mailing list, but my messages are returned saying "no such group
exists". If anyone is a member of a mobile phone list, Talks or
otherwise, please let me have the details.

Thanks.

David
