If that's the case Jim, then there must be a transformer
somewhere, since you sure as heck don't put 240 volts
through a 3.5mm jack.

If there is a transformer, there will be a mains cable going
into that, and that may well be a figure of 8 type.

hi ray and Billy, i understand what billy is saying. i have
the similar 
cable. it is a normal 3.5 jack plug at the end of the cable.
it just happens 
to bend into an l shape.
