Hi Janet,

Ok, make sure you are in your web browser.

Then press JAWS key+the number 6 to open the Settings Centre. You should here
JAWS speak the name of the settings for whichever browser you’re in.

You will have landed in a search field. Type language and press enter.

Arrow down until you hear ‘detect languages’, JAWS will say whether it is
checked or unchecked - I imagine in your case it will say check.

Press spacebar to uncheck it.

Tab to ok and press enter.

Now JAWS should just speak in English regardless of what happens on any website
you visit.

Cheers,

Ed

Hi Janet,

You need to stop JAWS automatically switching languages on web pages. I’d
advise changing this permanently (though it is possible to change it
temporarily) unless you think you’ll ever want JAWS to do this.

What version of JAWS are you running? The procedure for changing this setting
varies depending on your version.

Cheers,

Ed
