Hi Adrian

Firstly, Vodafone are still selling the N70 with TALKS included for £80, which is a good buy if it is within your budget range.

The other option is the RNIB Braille indexed address book, details of which I have taken from their website as follows: Ring binder address book supplied with indexed dividers labelled in each letter of the alphabet.

includes 100 sheets of braille paper for recording addresses and telephone numbers contains 26 index cards, each with one letter of the alphabet brailled along one side so it can be easily read
replacement alphabet cards are available (product code BB14C)
extra sheets of braille paper are available (product code BB14R, contains 100 sheets)
suitable for use with braille frames BF08, BF13 and BF18.
BB14 - Braille indexed address book
Dimensions - Width: 145mm (5.71"), Depth: 65mm (2.56"), Length: 145mm (5.71"), Weight: 0.425Kg

Price: £5.99 (Ex. VAT) £7.04 (Inc. VAT)

I hope these suggestions give you something to think about.

Good luck.

Jackie

Hi Peter and Jackie

Yes I've spoken with Cobalt about their products and also
RNIB but I for now will stick with braille it's not the best
option but the cheapest and easiest as I already have a list
in braille but I will be looking around just in case other
types of gadgets are available.

I phoned both organisations yesterday and discussed their
digital recorders and thought that the Olympus ones were
ideal but it's the price which has decided me for now.

Anyway thank you both for your input, it's a pity that these
gadgets are so expensive! I would love to get a talking
mobile but they are so expensive!

Hi Jackie

I have a Panasonic digital recorder as sold by gadget
choice
and have thought about using that to store my phone
numbers
but I'm not sure how it would work? I'm not very confident
at reading from braille, I have a list of the numbers that
I
use in braille and would want to transfer these across.

What sort of digital gadgets do the RNIB sell? I phoned
them
the other day but they were very vague and didn't really
know what I was after.

As for the number of phone numbers, probably about 150
give
or take.

Hi Adrian

The obvious one is a mobile with TALKS, but I suppose that
isn't the
cheapest option.

The RNIB have various recording gadgets, as do Cobolt, but
I
suppose it
would depend on whether you have lots of numbers, and
would
want them on a
tape or in digital folders.

Hi

I am looking for a simple gadget that I can use for
storing
phone numbers, something like the parrot but not as
complex
or expensive. I store all my phone numbers on my laptop
but
it isn't always turned on when I need a number so I'd be
interested to know what other gadgets are out there?
