Hi Damon,

If this is the NC10, it has this horrible thing on it called Mcafee
Security. When you try to authorise JAWS, there is a window that comes up
in Mcafee, saying do you want to allow JAWS to access the Internet? Say
yes, and you'll be OK. Alternatively, uninstall that crap and you'll work
just fine.

All the best

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] authorising jaws

Hi. So, as is the fashion round here, I've got myself a Netbook. However I am having difficulties getting my jaws to authorise and can't break out of
40 minute mode.

Obviously I can't stick the disk into my NC10 and authorise it because it
doesn't have a CD drive. So I've been attempting to tap the number on the
cardboard sleeve into the edit field in jaws with little success. It tells me 'please wait' and says it may take several minutes to authorise. After a
number of attempts now, I don't get beyond this screen even after waiting
about 7 or 8 minutes. It doesn't update, doesn't say I've been successful or
unsuccessful even. It just does nothing.

I do appear to have wifi access to the web because I can use Internet
Explorer successfully.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Note also that I downloaded the latest version of jaws 10 from the website
yet I tapped in the code from a jaws 8 sleeve because I can't locate the
jaws 10 sleeve.

Any thoughts appreciated. I've had minimal success previously when
attempting to authorise manually in this way.

...Damon
