Hi Eleanor,
That happened to me with a PTR1 and a laptop; the laptop charger blew the
motherboard of the PTR1. As you say, a lesson well learned!

it is so important to have the correct charger. I had a charger for Hagger
Handy Casette recorder and one of an identical size for myBraille 'N Speak
and plugged the wrong one into theBNS doing £100 worth of damage and that was
£100 about 15 years ago! are hard and expensive lesson to learn.

Hello George,
Firstly, thank you for sending the direct link for the charger for my phone.
Yes, my phone cable charges both my phone and my victor Reader Stream.
Secondly, I can vouch for what you said about being careful which cable you
choose. I purchased my Victor Reader Stream 2 privately and the lady I
bought
it from included a micro USB cable which turned out not to be suitable for
charging the unit. The plug fitting was very floppy and although I did get
it
to charge, I found the slightest movement caused the connection to drop out.
I sent the unit with the cable to HumanWare and they confirmed it was the
wrong one and they sent me the correct cable free of charge. That was over 2
and a half years ago and the plug has had plenty of use since then. It was
while I was away from home I noticed the pins had come off, and when I tried
it found it didn't stay connected.
right, I'll pop onto Amazon's site and order that cable. Thanks again.
best wishes,
Clive pallett
