Hi tony.

There is a vast range available from various suppliers. Do not get windows 8. She will be a lot better off with windows7. My favourite for reconditioned or cheap laptops are tier1online or valu computers. If you are not sure what to go for, we can get together on skype to go through options let me know whens convenient.

We want to buy a Windows (7/8( laptop/netbook as a thank you present for
a sighted friend of ours and wonder pls your recommendations?

We understand that netbooks/laptops can be got fairly reasonably priced
    these days.

Our friend would only need such an item for social stuff, email photos
    films and the like.

Sttorage space would be good but if it took an SD card then that'd be fine.

We are thinking of a price (from ads) of about the equivalent of no more
    than about a hundred pounds.

We will be shopping tomorrow evening and any assist with this will be
    grattefully appreciated.

    TIA,
