Assuming it works the same as 7, find the programme you want to put on the
desktop in the list of programmes.  
Press shift f 10 and cursor down to send to and press enter cursor down to
desktop and press enter.  
  
Now, select the prog from the desktop and press shift f 10 and cursor up
once to properties.  Tab across to shortcut key and enter a letter such as I
for internet explorer.  Tab on to apply and then OK.  Now, pressing right
control key +I should bring up IE.

Hi. I just wanted to put things like Internet explorer on the desktop along
with Skype and e-mail.  I do like the OS but it's going to take a few days
to get use to it. Do you know how I can get to social networking
notifications? I'm using System Access and wanted to know if Window-Eyes or
NVDA work better with this OS?
