Hi Andrew, Actually, David is wrong. Desktop.ini is in XP, I just checked on one of my boxes. Hi David, There is no real reason why I used to have hidden files shown in XP - I just noticed they were showing when I checked the other day. Hi Andrew, The desktop.ini file is associated with any files that are waiting to be burnt to cd/dvd, and this file wasn't present in windows xp. Why windows 7 gets so upset when you try and copy it along with the other files on the cd, I've no idea. However, given it's a hidden file, I guess Microsoft don't expect you to copy it. Just out of interest, is there any particular reason why you used to have hidden files being shown? David. original message: Hi David, Thank you for responding to my enquiry. I have, as you suggested, prevented the hidden files and folders from being shown and this has indeed solved my problem. However, just out of interest, do you know why having the hidden files and folders showing caused this to happen? The reason I ask this is that I have always had them showing in XP and I have never seen this file ready to be written to a CD or DVD before. Anyway, thanks for your help.
