I am aware that NVDA is working fine with win 10 and I know that both windoweyes and jaws are windows 10 ready. But as far as I understand, no screenreader will kick in automatically during the first setup screen/wizard once windows 10 installs.

Just been looking at the MS web site for details of the upgrade/install process for windows 10 their site is monumentally unhelpfull in that regard, they are spending more page space in gushing lyrical about windows 10 than offering any guidance to end users on the actuall process. all they say is that your get windows 10 app will notify you when your upgrade is ready.. assuming narrator is enabled( or nvda if you are using that) my guess is that the notication will be read out to you.

In fact with regards to NVDA if you do upgrade to windows 10 and have NVDA running, you may get a notification advising that it is not fully compatible and you can link directly to the nvda status page for compatability status,( NV access are working closely with Microsoft on this issue according to the last status update I looked at this morning )

Sorry my post was no more helpfull than what I could glean from microsoft. will update the list on my experience when it happens ( probably at stupid o'clock knowing my luck ).

Hello,

I realise that I may not bee able to get windows 10 exactly
today. What slightly concerns me is that when clicking on 'get
windows 10' app, I get the following:

"Thank you for reserving your free upgrade

You're part of the largest software upgrade event ever, and your
PC is almost ready for Windows 10. We're rolling out the free
upgrade in waves, and we'll let you know when it's ready for you.

Watch for your notification so that you can start your upgrade."

That is followed by a slideshow, which shows you what the
evarious stages of the eupgrade will look like.

I have the following questions:

1.When the update is ready to download and install, will the
notification in the system tray change in any other way rather
than just visually? IE, will it say something else than 'get
windows 10' or will it change so when I click on it there will
be ways to download/install it rather than just this not
particularly helpful slideshow?

2.Once the update is installed and it asks your basic setup
questions, are we able to launch narrator during this process?
Is narrator shortcut/s different in win 10?

Thank you.
