Hi Ambro,

Mine is already set that way. Yes, it seems to be a random thing, so maybe the pages just aren't always available.

I do think though that I remember Steve Nutt (or perhaps someone else) commenting on NTL's "going round the houses" with WEB pages.

Anyway, perhaps someone will find a solution. I've personally spoken with them by far enough this week to warrant having any more time to talk to them! <Smiles>

Incidentally, folks, I think they've "gone down the pan" a bit since being taken over. Their latest communication (received just after we'd had a two-day outage and I had been told I'd have to wait ten days for an engineer to renew my modem), said their bill this month would be higher. Guess what! They're wanting to ensure they have a month's payment now in advance! <GRRR>

Carol, does this happen randomly with webpages? Try what I suggested to Mandy in my other message and hopefully that will be of some help. BTW, I'm with Virgin and it was their support teem who originally suggested this to me!

Cheers,
Amro

Aha, now Mandy I am convinced that we have the same problem.

I have just lived with it because I can't solve it, but it probably has something to do with Virgin-Media. You will find, probably, that some sites give this message but in fact the page is found and you can read it further down the screen.

I'd like to get to the bottom of this one myself.

I don't have a software firewall I've had trouble with those don't know which one to use I just have Windows firewall turned on. and no I don't want to do a reformat unless I have to but at a loss what to do. Virgin Media say it is a router problem as there is definitely signal coning into the house as is obvious but what does it mean if the port(s0 are blocking access how do I cure that and how sinister is it that I get this access denied message when going to documents and settings?

I've been using Download Express but couldn't install SpyBot so removed Download Express but still can't is that because I already have Spy Sweeper which I've purchased trying desperately to get the maximum protection for my laptop? What shall I do next? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dj Paddy" <mygroups@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Mandy,

A re-format is so far off the drastic scale that it's not funny.

Have you got a software firewall?

NOD32 is not your problem here.

I've reversed my restore so at least AVG is gone and NOD is back so what next? If the port(so) for browsing the internet are blocked wouldn't that prevent the use of the internet all of the time?
Is the only real answer a complete reformat?

Mandy.
