Hi, I thought all what installing the American voices did was to remove the spoken high volume warning. So does it actually allow you to achieve higher volume levels than what is possible with the UK voices? On my Stream I currently can go up to level 20 with headphones and level 15 with the built in speakers. Thanks.

Roger,
I think you will find that by installing any of the American or Australian voices for that matter, not only does it remove the limit on  the volume of what you call the command voices, but also any recorded material downloaded to your VRS, be it books, podcasts music etc.
It is certainly worth giving it a try.

Hi Peter
It’s not the command voices I’m referring to but  the sound of the items I’m playing, books or music. The playback on  my PTX1 or Calibre audio player is far louder than on the VRS.

        Roger,
I had the same problem as you.  If you don't mind the American accent, you can download one of the American English voices from the humanware website They don’t have this annoying limitation.
I found it made a huge difference.

Hi
I heard that the EU some while ago restricted the volume on devices such as MP3 players to try and preserve the hearing of people who had the m too loud. I also heard that people like me who had very reduced hearing anyway had a way of over coming this to obtain the full volume of the product.
I have a second gen VRS that I have only used for about 10 minutes because I find the volume too low for me. Does anyone know how I can bypass the control on volume and turn it up so I can use it, please.
