Clearly something is inhibiting the moderator from looking at group messages at
the moment which is a shame.
I’ll will look around to see if there are any similar lists.
The reason I was keen to join was that I have developed an “advanced
arthritic” knee with possible knee replacement an option for the future.
Because of this I wondered if others have experience of the interaction of this
sort of issue with Blindness.
For example when I broke my foot a couple of years ago the OT did not have a
clue as to how to manage this with Blindness. He only seemed to know about
strategies suitable for people with sight. For example he wanted me to use a
walking frame but was flummoxed when I pointed out that for a totally blind
person this made navigation rather challenging.
Actually the only feasible strategy to avoid weight bearing, indoors at least,
I found was to crawl, with a rucksack to carry anything I needed on my back.
The OT was profoundly uncomfortable with that strategy but could suggest no
other alternative.
These issues are complex and interesting but probably do not fit the remit of
this list.
