Dialling UK numbers from the Irish Republic frequently, all numbers must be prefixed by 0044, this can include dialling from Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland. However, the Irish networks make an exception for Northern Ireland and there is a specific code within Ireland to make such a call a national call. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mobeen Iqbal" <mobeeniqbal@xxxxxxxxx>

hmm, i'm not sure about that. i think that in England and ireland, you can dial them as standard numbers, the same from scotland. not sure about wales. a friend of mine used to live in wales and she had a standard number with O2 and used to call me without dialing the +44 code. the O2 website seems to imply you can dial numbers as normal from europe as well, but i'm not convinced unless someone's tried it? also perhaps it depends on what tarrif you're on and what caps are active.all the best, Mo. I have set it to another network and it works, I have to change it manually every time my phone is turned off. I can receive calls but not make calls. I found thisout the hard waywhen I gave a Giffgaff sim to a customer who is notInternet savvy. Shedidn't like it because she couldn't top up with a creditcard, you have togo buy a Giffgaff voucher. This is silly, considering youcan with O2.The top up number is 43430, but again, you have to buy avoucher before youcan top up. Otherwise, I love Giffgaff. The below is just my experience, it'll be interesting tosee what otherscome back with. recently, i moved house and the signal inthelincolnshire countryside wasn't great at all. i'd beenwith o2 since the90's, and always found them to be fantastic in terms ofcustomer serviceand accessibility, it helps that they have a dedicatedaccessibilityteam to improve things like the website etc. i've neverhad any problemswhen administering my account online, and its very easy toadministermultiple accounts if you have family members with othercontracts butyou're paying the bills. Tesco's website account manageris also ok, mybrother's contract is with them and i can highly ratetheir customerservice response times as well as the level ofhelpfullness. not tomention the fact that you can claim plenty of club cardpoints invarious ways. Giffgaff could also be an option for you.i've used themin the past, and generally found them to be ok but all thesupport youreceive is web based. you can't speak to someone and theyuse the o2network, so they weren't an option for me. I proceeded toobtain simcards from all the major networks to find out which hadthe bestcoverage across the county, as well as looking on thenetwork coveragecheckers for each provider. I also called customerservices for eachprovider and put them through their paces, buyingcontracts, cancellingcontracts, etc. O2 came out on top, which i foundconsistent with onlinesurveys they're always winning awards a long with tesco, butunfortunately they only cover around 90% of the UK andthey weren't anoption for me. I then tried three. their customer serviceis based inIndia. they're ok for the most part, but i found thatwhile on pay asyou go with them, sometimes you'd send texts and theywouldn't arriveuntil days later. that could've been a glitch but thiswent on for weeksas my brother was with them. we tried different phones anddifferentmessage center numbers all to no avail. they're very easyto sign upwith though and coverage is OK in most areas, i'd doublecheck your areabefore hand. the website account manager is very easy touse anddisplays all your account information in an easy layout. Vodafone came next. coverage wasn't that great in my area, and i hadsome bad experiences with customer services unfortunately.they'd leaveme holding for ages if they didn't cut me off, and wheni'd try and topup my sim card, the card would be fine in terms offunds/expirey etc buti'd more often than not get transfered to customerservices as theautomated service would refuse to accept my card details.i also foundthe website not to be fantastic in terms of useability.they were alsorated worst for customer service in a survey conducted notlong ago byoffcom. Next i decided to try the last network, EE. on the hole,my experiencehas been pretty good with them. they may not always havethe cheapestdeals, but you can't go wrong in terms of coverage. thenetwork has beenvery good when i've been travelling over the UK, certainlyon a 3Gconnection. i haven't been to London so can't comment ifthe networkcongestion is bad down south, but in terms of customerservice they'reok. most of its based in the UK, and if you don't mindholding for a bitthen you eventually get through to someone who can resolveyour issue.the website account manager is also quite useable, andthey're the onlyUK network offering shared plans for families, ideal forme. i'm paying£39 a month for unlimited calls and texts, 20GB of dataand each extrasim costs me £12 and i can have up to 5 on my plan. theothers thenshare my data allowance. not bad when you consider theamount of dataand a motorola moto G 4G thrown in for free. the sims youreceive arealso 4G compatible so no matter what kind of handset youhave it'll workusing the best connection possible in your area. virginare also worthlooking at. i haven't used them but they use the EEnetwork and i'veheard good things about their customer service. This isjust myopinion/experiences, i hope they help you in making adecision. I daresay that others have had bad experiences where i've hadgood ones, thebest thing you can do is take them for a spin your self.my prioritieshave always been customer service and coverage. if i canbe of anyfurther help, please don't hesitate to drop me a noteeither on or offlist and i'd be more than happy to go in to more detail onany of theabove providers. telecoms is always something i've had akeen interestin, and whenever a new provider comes a long, i like totake them for aspin to see what they're like. i must remember to try outthe Co-Op next.all the best, Mo.
