Hi Peter,
No easy way to show you how to effectively bring down the notifications if
you can't manage, except to say be fast and light.
If you really can't, there is an app on the Play Store called Open
Notifications. Download and install that, it's free, put it on your home
screen, then you can double tap it to bring down the notifications.
The answer to 2 is no also. There is no way to dismiss all apps.

Using marshmallow
1. I often find the swipe right and down gesture difficult to bring down the
notification shade. When I use two fingers to scroll the message comes up
announcing the notification screen but it keeps reverting back to the home
screen. Is there another method?
2. Having double tapped the overview button, is there a way to dismiss all
apps?
