I bought a laptop several years ago and the dealer said when you use it on
the mains, remove the battery unless your charging it. Constant use of the
machine on the mains with the batter connected aparently can damage it a
little. I found that to be true and ended up buying a new battery.

I have found Toshiba very helpful I use a Toshiba laptop that I bought
from PC World. I am paying some kind of maintenance agreement of £10
per month though so perhaps that helps but I would hate to be without my
laptop.
Actually last night I was using it and everything suddenly went blank,
no sound, no screen so my husband took it into Pc World as I was
otherwise occupied: turned out the battery had become disconnected or
moved slightly. At least now we know to check for that. The guy said
we probably shouldn't use it constantly on the mains or to take out the
battery but I use a cooling board underneath so it wouldn't fit very
firmly on that what do other people do re battery and using laptop from
mains all the time?

Hi all,
Thought I'd e-mail you all to find out what experience you had in
ringing up
Toshiba technical support. My girlfriend's laptop suddenly died last
night
due to a hardware and software failure, and her college warden tried to
ring
up Toshiba all day, with little success. So has any of you had better
luck
with them?
Thanks, and I look forward to hear from you.
