Hi Steve,
I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work.
All the best,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
If your sighted colleagues swipe right, then your equivalent on iOS is to do a
three finger swipe right. Try this and see if it reveals the screen to you.
Three finger swipe right is a scroll right, and it may help.
All the best

Hi Terry and Steve,
Thank you both for trying to help me with my Facebook problem.
I have checked the picture in picture setting and it is enabled so I can safely
say that isn’t the problem. Not only that but if I were to press the home
button whilst watching a live video it would take me out of the Facebook app
and back to the home screen and I have done that and it stops the video from
playing. I have asked a sighted friend what they do too comment on the video
during, before or after the service and all they can tell me is that they flick
either right or left to go between full screen and the split screen where the
comments are visible. If anyone else has anything to offer me on this problem
it would be much appreciated as I don’t really like attending a service like
that and not wishing everyone a good morning/evening, especially as I have been
doing that since March. They will all think I have become very standoffish and
I hope I’m not that! 😊
Thanks all,
Andrew

Hi,
Just to add though that there is a really neat feature in Settings both for iOS
and Android, called Search Settings.
So if you get a message that something is in Settings, it’s worth not
forgetting this, because it has saved me going several menu levels deep
sometimes to find a setting I want. In fact, it’s sometimes quicker to search
settings, than go down the menu structure.
In our example, if you tap search settings and type the word Picture, you’ll
almost be right there.
All the best

Hi again Andrew.
Just to be clear, Picture in picture is in settings, then general.
When you double tap it there’s a toggle called “Start PIP automatically” which
to achieve the results you want you need to have turned on.
Once the video starts press Home then navigate to the page or anywhere else,
and the screen will scale to enable the video and other content to be
accessible.
Hope that’s of some help, and sorry for the lack of detail in my previous reply.
Terry.

Hi Terry,
Thank you for your email.
Yes I am using iOS14. Can you tell me where the picture in picture setting is
please?
Many thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew.
Assuming your using I O S 14 just make sure picture in picture is enabled and
that should fix your problem, enabling the picture to scale with any other
screen content.

Subject: [access-uk] The Facebook app for iOS
Hi all,
Since lockdown first began back in March, the church which I regularly attend
has been conducting most of its services online via Facebook. The Rector there
does a live video which you can either watch whilst it’s live or alternatively
it is available to watch later. I like to view it live as it means I am
attending the service at the same time as most other people. What’s also nice
about it is that up until about a week ago, the video by default only took up a
portion of the screen leaving the rest of the screen available to show the
various comments which was nice as all those attending the service wish one
another a good morning or evening and the majority of us thanked the rector
afterwards. The option was always there to view the video in full screen for
those who wished to do that.
However, ever since an update to the app nearly two weeks ago now, the video
goes into full screen by default and I can’t seem to find any way to get to the
comments. If I double tap on something which says “collapse the video”, it
either takes me back to my newsfeed or to my watch. Whichever, I can’t find a
way to add my own comments to the live video. Does anyone know how I can get
round this please?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Andrew
