Hi Andy

I feel duty-bound to reply since I helped you with your laptop in the first place (smile).

Quickplay, as you rightly say, has one of these buttons above your function keys which can be accidentally pressed because you can't actually feel them. When it occasionally happens to me, I alt f4 out of it, and it normally closes it. I haven't seen anything in the System Tray that would remedy this either.

The other touch-sensitive button you must be careful not to press is above your delete key and is a mute button. Press that and you lose speech etc.

I haven't marked these touch-sensitive buttons above my function keys because I know where they are situated, but it would be possible to identify them with perhaps some Lockdots or dymo. You may have problems closing the lid if you use Bump-Ons or anything too obvious.

My best advice is to fold your fingers a bit when you alt f4 out of an application so that you don't accidentally hit the Quickplay button. It's roughly above f3.

You also have volume up and down touch-sensitive buttons further along to the right in case you didn't know that.

Jackie

Hi all -

No, not a personal message to any individual, but my problem with my laptop!

What happens is, that I have some touch media keys across the plastic strip above the function keys on my laptop, and these trigger certain things, one of which seems to be to launch "quick Play" [or some such name] programme, that seems to hog the machine, and I lose not just JFW, but Narrator too! My attempts to reboot from using short cut keys, doesn't work, but neither does
pressing the off/on button.

The laptop is just sitting there, I can't turn it off! Something must be
hogging the screen [maybe that media software programme thing] but I don't
understand why the power button won't switch it off!

Any thoughts good people? -

Andy
