Hi Peter -
If I'm understanding you correctly, I think to turn the screen reader volume
down under XP, you'd have to do it via the system volume; in Vista, there
are separate volume controls for this, and I find that a useful addition.
Is it just that the screen reader is too loud? I'm not sure why you're
asking about Winamp, if you are able to ajust it's volume using the arrow
keys -

| between max an min without affecting the other volume.
