I'd just like to add one thing to this discussion. I've noticed that when the audiodescription is integral to the TV IE not from a separate box the description tends to be less choppy. With my Goodmans and the Netjem prior to it, when the audiodescription kicked in the volume of the program would drop and often there would be brief cut outs leading to a very disjointed listening experience. On my friend's TV, with inbuilt audiodescription, this doesn't happen at all. When the audiodescription kicks in, the program volume remains the same and there is no cut outs at all in either.

It looks as thoughmost television sets carry AD these days, and the chap in our local shopsurprised me by knowing of its existence. We haven't made up our minds yet what to go for, but Panasonic seems to be the best brand that is accessible, at least according to the site a list member kindly provided a link for. Iwould personally like something with everything built into the set, but dread to think how accessible that would be. I don't particularly want togo down the route of purchasing separate items in order to get equipment to talk at the moment, for example the RNIB Freeview box. I would rather waitfor that to become available as a recorder as well if possible. Anyway, much food for thought.
