I do hope Intel will unblock the sleep function for this and future stick

Hi,
JAWS already has a keyboard lock function.
You can use the key combination JAWSKey+space, then the letter l.
And, unlocking can be done with the same way.

I thought it might be that. But could you work with Freedom Scientific to
have a software keystroke to lock and unlock the keys so at least it makes
it easier to carry the unit from say one room to another without powering it
down and back up again? That would seem to me to be a compromise where
disturbing ElBraille is concerned during transit.

Hello,
The ElBraille is powered up by an Intel ComputeStick, model STK1AW32SC.
For some unknown reason to us, Intel does not support sleep mode with these
stick boards.
There is nothing we can do about it, unfortunantly, since they block it.
We will make sure to co operate with them to add this functionality in the
future.

I think it would have been helpful to at least have some sort of lock on the
device in the form of a slide switch or quick key combination. I don't
understand why sleep mode wasn't left on it, but doubtless someone will come
back with a reason.

Yes, this is an issue for me too. There really needs to be a way to wake the
ElBraille quickly instead of waiting for it to power up from cold.

Has anyone had any success with putting their ElBraille in sleep mode? There
doesn't seem to be an option for this when I look in "Settings/Power and
Sleep". Someone advised me to lightly press the power button to put the unit
into sleep mode but this doesn't work.
It's quite vexing not to have this option in ElBraille as you do in a
Windows laptop/notebook/tablet. Turning ElBraille off and then powering it
up again when going between meetings is cumbersome. I found myself
tip-toeing round the building last week leaving the unit switched on and
just hoping I didn't bump buttons. :-]
So, any suggestions will be gratefully received.
Despite a few gripes, I really love my ElBraille. Windows and JAWS and all
my apps just work. None of this "Sandbox" situation that you get with other
specialist notetakers. Oh, and the price is pretty good too.
