I would go with our uk based offerings.
Rnib, calibre, and there was another small startup something like talking
books.org, or something like that, can't remember now. Cost £20 a year to
join, seemed to be direct competitor to rnib that one, until rnib went free
of course. Now they have flung down a huge gauntlet to smaller orgs, but,
there is choice out there.

Thanks a lot Martin,
Interesting. Going through the partner looks like it might be a bit of a
faff. The UK partner is apparently Dyslexia Action, and they want you to
make an appointment and travel to a local Dyslexia Action Centre to get the
proof of Disability form certified. It's also not completely clear that
they'll provide the service for non-dyslexics. Oh well.
Cheers,
Ed

Subject: [access-uk] Proof of disability for Bookshare
Hi all,
Has anyone successfully used a BD8/CVI as proof of disability when signing
up for Bookshare?
From the website, it looks as though you need to get a bespoke proof of
disability form signed by a competent body/professional, but I was wondering
whether that was actually the case in practice.
Cheers,
Ed
