Hello Mike and all,

Here is an email from the BCAB list, perhaps 2 years old, but might be worth a
few key presses from yourself. The feedback opportunity offered might, or might
not, still be available. Explore.

I thought list members might be interested in a campaign called Fix the
Web, launched by Citizens Online.
At last, an easy way to complain about inaccessible websites - start
reporting problems now!

BCAB members supporting the initiative include Leonie Watson and Robin
Christopherson.

Join the campaign to make the web more accessible for disabled and
older people.
Fix the Web makes the reporting of web accessibility issues super quick
and simple for disabled people - it takes under 60 seconds. The
campaign is also calling on tech-minded volunteers to pick up the
issues and take them forward with website owners.

Fix the web is aiming to get 250,000 websites addressed within two
years and bring about a digital culture change in the process. Given
that volunteers will largely be "techies" their involvement in the
campaign will help to raise awareness of digital access issues.

Fix the Web is calling on disabled people now to start reporting
websites they have issues with - large or small. There are over 50
volunteers waiting to take them forwards. Find out more by visiting:
http://www.fixtheweb.net

Start reporting web accessibility issues in any of these ways:

1. Send a brief email to post@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the url and problem

2. Send a tweet that includes #fixtheweb #fail url problem

3. Fill out a three line form : http://fixtheweb.net/node/add/report

Please Note: Bug testing is taking place throughout the Autumn, though
it is expected to take a few months before the system is completely
"ironed out". Fix the Web is asking people to be patient and welcomes
feedback and any thoughts they have about the process. A browser
toolbar to make reporting sites even easier is on the way too. Report
now or join as a volunteers and together we can Fix the Web!

Hello list

I have just been to the 'Packt Publishing' web site to buy a wxPython
e-book.

I discovered that to make a purchase I have to create an account, which
involves a graphical capture code (don't you just love them?).

Obviously I couldn't proceed because I can't see the code.

I phoned their sales department and after much too-ing and fro-ing was
told I have to wait for them to change their web site before I can make
a purchase.

Is there a central collection point for reports of inaccessible web sites?

I have been here before but normally a phone call to the company
concerned leads to them bending over backwards to help, not the kind of
couldn't care less attitude I had from Packt Publishing.

Mike
