Hi Carol,

Goes to show that even pcs and operating systems have their own little inconsistancies.

Jim,

I'm not Tony but, for what it's worth, it seems to me that someone (or group)
has simply made it to work with Windows 7 but the email programme, as it was
originally in the latter days of XP, appears not to have been altered. I'm not
a programmer so may well be wrong here, but can't find any other reason why
some, like myself, should find it's working really well, while others are
finding all these little inconsistencies.

If anyone knows how this version came about and who may be responsible for it, I'd love
to follow up on this and perhaps establish whether my reasoning here is simply
"reasoning" but not necessarily the case that it does not work for some on
Windows 64 bit machines.

Hope you can understand what I'm saying here.

Hello Tony et al,

Interesting discussion. I presume that there is a 64 bit version of OE
for windows 7 home premium.
I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird and although it's not as good as OE I
don't have any real issues with it. At least its stable.

0was Hi Carol,
0was
0was Well that's interesting to know others experiences.
0was
0was It's a 32 bit machine I'm using too.
0was
0was Where do your deleted mails go to for example in OE?
0was
0was Another thing is that when I would start to write say'Martin' for an
0was email address that I have for that person Marie would show and when I
0was continue to m a r t i n (together of course) I would get something
0was like marietin!!
0was
0was Sometimes I would have to be very quick in typing to avoid that
0was scenario.
0was
0was I will have it checked out by a professional hopefully tomorrow and
0was can report back.
0was
0was BTW, it's the OE 6 from runasxp that I have installed.
0was
0was As I say it's not drastic working with it but it sure could do with
0was improving.

Hi Tony,

I don't really understand what you're saying and I'm having no
problem. If you're using a 64 bit computer then that may be the
reason for instability problems, but mine is working like a dream on
32 bit.

Hi folk,

Not wishing to be any kind of 'kill joy' my experience of OE with
Win 7 is
not great.

Okay well it works well enough to a fashion butt is often enough flaky
enough.

For example I find that when I delete the deleted item is no where
in OE and
typing in email adress to post a mail is iffy enough at times with
that auto
complete feature not always behaving as it should.

Anyway just my penny's worth.

I do intend hanging on to it for a while more though as setting it
up in the
first place wasn't easy.

Best,

Tony Sweeney
