Hi Mandy,
I’m sure your points will be noted by those who are involved with development.
What I do feel has to be seriously considered is that it is targeted at quite
different market. Just do a simple exercise, and divide the purchase prices
of braille devices, but the number of braille cells they display. You might
be in for quite a shock!

Hi Ian.
I, like so many others, had been waiting with baited breath for the release
of the Orbit Reader and so ordered it as soon as I was able.
I already have, and extensively use, the Focus 40 which I really like but
thought it would be good to have something as an addition, not as an
alternative.
So I tried it for a couple of days: I wrote a couple of notes, these were
okay although for some reason they seemed to appear in more than one place:
I lookedat the books on the card: thought I would read Far From The
Maddening Crowd but there was so much to plough through before getting to the
actual beginning of the book: I saw no way to get there apart from holding
the panning butto down so that it would move more quickly.
I also used it with my iPhone: connection was so easy, not even having to
enter a number for pairing: but again, moving quickly from message to
,message, or through FaceBook or emails, it is just too slow for me.
I knew it was not possible to quickly make a correction and it proved more
annoying than I had expected: also the constant noise, rather like a moth at
a window: that I found a little irritating.
The Braille I think is fantastic: very clear but, like I say, it is not for
me but if I hadn’t tried I would have just kept wondering what I was missing.
I think it is a shame there isn’t a case to go with it: did I see on a video
from someone in Canada that they do have a case?
I think, like I said, for people who can’t afford the usual Braille displays
it is an answer, just not for me.

I for one would be interested in knowing what reasons caused you to make that
decision Mandy especially as the jury could be said to be pretty much out on
the Orbit.
