Thanks George and Adrian, but I'm not at all sure what's going on.
I followed the steps outlined by Adrian and found that any file type
references to HTML where already linked to IE. I closed this down, went back
to the attachment and this time it opened in IE!
So although I'm not aware of having done anything to fix the problem, the
problem is now fixed.
I'll await next months bill with a sense of heightened anticipation!

| file, open, and browse for the save file from there. If you want to set
| html files back to opening in the broser go my computer, tools, folder
| options, file types tab, and look for html in the initial list, you can
| use fist letter navigation thankfuly so that will speed things up a bit,
| tab across to the change button, press space, choose your browser from
| the list and then ok your way out of all the windows.

| Save the file to your hard drive where you know where to find it. Go to
| My Computer, locate the file, and right click on it. Select "Open
| With", and a list of programs should come up, one being "Internet
| Explorer". Click on that.

| Once that's done, we'll work out your file associations so that .html
| files will use Explorer.
