Thanks for the help fellas, happy to report its now fixed. I'll just have to be more careful in future.

I did get mouse help last night to deactivate mute, which is what I'd managed to unwittingly activate in the first place.

With a little more time on my hands this morning though I went back in for a closer look, and was able to track down more options using the advice given by the Beeb on the site for screen reader users. Although I'd have to be honest and say that the method they suggest, in my experience, is a bit flaky at best! Incidentally, this was whilst using JAWS 12.

when you press spacebar on the volume button, you then use the tab key to go from 1 to 11 then press enter. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vince Thacker" <vince@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Peter, I notice you don't say how to get to the volume control though, which would actually answer the question. Perfectly accessible?

I have the latest snapshot, but this is veering away from the subject on the card.

Vince.

The iplayer is perfectly accessible with NVDA. which version of NVDA are you using? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vince Thacker" <vince@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Darren,

There is indeed a mute button on the iPlayer, and it looks from my very small experiment a moment ago as if the setting (e.g., muted) can carry over to a new session. I muted the first session, exited the iPlayer, and opened it again, and still there was silence. I can just about see enough to get the volume control back on, but it doesn't seem at all accessible with NVDA screen reader; can't speak for other screen readers.

Vince.

Hi Darren and Peter,

Not sure if you are referring to the radio Iplayer.

I find this on the radio but when using JAWS I simply press the DOWN arrow
on the Iplay page and it works.

Hope this is of some use.

Regards,

Denis

What were you trying to listen to? I normally don't have any problems using the iplayer, but a few days a go, someone on another list sent a link to a
particular item on the iplayer, and when I tried to listen to it, it
wouldn't play.

Hi List.

I was using the BBC iPlayer a couple of days ago without incident,
but I've tried tonight and I'm not hearing any audio.

I can tell the thing is playing as the time ticker is moving
forward, but no audio! I've tried playing four different programs, no sound present. Audio is playing though on other sites, and MP3 etc are all fine.

I haven't made any changes at all since last using the player, and
the Help pages haven't thrown up anything useful.

Have any list members ever had a similar experience with the
iPlayer? I did think I may have activated a mute button, but as I've no idea if this is even possible since the changes, its hard to tell. Anyway, this
wouldn't remain selected over different sessions, or would it?

Regards.

Darran
