That's the kind of answer I was looking for! Thanks! That will be updated for you by the installation of 2012.2.1. And it will retain your settings. Do I need to uninstall this version to put in the latest? I'm not too clear still how to install the voices. I have an .exe file which has an older Eloquence version I want to try so a little more explanation would probably help there, thanks. I am beginning to get impressed with this. Thanks for any further help. NVDA now uses a very simple add-on manager to add voices so, for example, after downloading the svox pico voice, bring up the NVDA screen, go to tools, manage add-ons and load the svox pico voice, then go to preferences, synthesiser and select the svox pico voice. It will be the same for all the other voices except the Microsoft SAPI voices. These are pre-installed on your machine. The way in which a portable version is installed has changed too. Before there were two versions to download. Now the tools menu item has a create portable version item. Can anyone please tell me if there are demos of all the voices and, if so, where do I find them,? I just can't stand the default voice that is used and will not learn more thoroughly unless I'm satisfied with the voice. Thanks. Carol P
