Hi Jill.

Have you tried using Solona? An actual person processes the capcha's for you,
though you do have to know how to upload a screen shot or at least be confident
enough to read the instructions provided. If you go to www.solona.net, you can
read more about the service which by the way is completely free and browser
independent.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Well, I intend to eventually move everything out of my Hotmail account, but
the likes of Amazon make this impossible. Now to change email addresses in it,
you have to do the captcha thing, and I've tried with firefox and webvisum but
it doesn't accept it. Thing is there's no actual error message. As you only
get 10 captchas per day, I don't want to waste them all on Amazon.co.uk

  Jill.

    Hi Jill.

That's OK *smile*, a lot of people not just you believe that you have to
have a hotmail account to use messenger, I think this is just one of many ways
in which Microsoft try you to get you to sign up with Hotmail, making you
believe that everything together is what's wanted IE email, instant messaging,
storage etc. If you have a hotmail account, you have a windows live ID already
and so if your happy with hotmail by all means stick to it. However, if your
like me and demand the best from their email and only use msn as a
communication tool, its definatly worth knowing that you can use any email
address as a windows live ID not just a hotmail one.

    All the best, Ibrahim.

Thanks for that Ibrahim. I admit to not knowing that. I already had a
Hotmail account so it wasn't really an issue but worth knowing should I close
it.

        Hi Jill.

You don't need to set up a hotmail address; I use my own personal
email address to sign in to messenger, all you need is a windows live ID,
something that you'll be asked to set up when you load messenger for the first
time. If you want a new email account Andrew, by all means set up a hotmail
account, but bare in mind that your messenger sign-in will be a hotmail
address, so if someone chooses to send you an email through messenger, it will
mean you'll have the additional account to check.

        All the best, Ibrahim.

          Hi Andrew.

First, you'll need to create a Hotmail account if you haven't got 1
already. Once that's done you'll need to download Windows Live Messenger,
though if you've got MSN Messenger or the like already on your machine then
that's irrelevant.Your User name will be your email address. I think you'll
also have to go through image varification when you sign up.

You then need to add someone's contact address. Once Messenger's all
set up, you should be on a screen where you can add contacts and you'll see any
that are already added. alt C brings up the contacts menu, a for add. Then it
should say something like type email address, so put that in and tab round the
next few fields. Then you should find a button which says something like
"proceed to next screen." This is where you invite someone so you just type an
introductory message and I think there may be a next screen button after that,
can't quite remember. It's relatlvely easy. to message someone, I think you
just click on the name of the contact and an edit box should come up and you
might hear "type message here."

I don't know how to do everything in Messenger yet as I've just
started up again, but any more questions, just ask. I'm sure someone will
answer even if it's not me.

          Jill.
