The "Belkin 54G" sounds more like the SSID name, which I
won't go into right now. It's certainly not the model
number.

It's the parental control bit I can't figure.

Hi George it's Belkin 54G.
After a while it just goes back to normal without us doing a
thing.

The laptop stayed on for over an hour and just recently went
off again it is just so weird I really don't know whether to
go to the trouble of buying a new one or not. It is about
two years old and I do have a link for a firmware upgrade
that someone else obtained from this list but I've no idea
how to do it.

Mandy.

Well it does very much look as though some kind of
Parental Control has been activated.

Can you remind me as to exactly what make and model
of router you have? It is entirely possible that it may
just have some kind of Parental Controls built in which have
been activated.

I'll see if I can then find a manual for the router
and see if that could be the case.

        George.

I was going to look on a website just now:
strangely this time the laptop seems to be staying connected
for longer and this is the message I got when I tried to go
onto the internet and we get it from tie to time - it will
be on all our computers usually when the internet connection
has gone off for some reason and we're never sure why: does
this mean anything to you George because we don't have any
parent control lock on any website we don't know how.
