Panasonic were not exactly telling the whole truth when they said that they
have never made a phone with talking caller ID. Apparently the Panasonic
KX-TG6445T had this facility. However, I have done a web search and the only
instance of this phone seems to be in the USA. Perhaps they were saying that
this facility was not made in the UK. There are software programmes that
announce caller ID, but they only work on PCs and only if you have a dial-up
modem and not on DSL or cable.

Hi Darran

Had you thought of the phone RNIB sell that talks at every press of a
button, and announces the person's number when it rings unless the caller is
withholding their number? This is a really chunky phone, with large buttons
and display, but I know a friend who has one and swears by its usefulness.
You can go up and down the list of people who have called you, then press
redial to get them. The trouble is that the phone costs around £90 which
may put some people off.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Subject: [access-uk] Landline Phones with Talking Caller ID

Hi List.

I've been looking around for such a phone and can only turn up the Geemarc
Photophone 155 model, priced in and around the £65 mark. I had thought
Panasonic produced a series of these phones, but an e-mail from there
customer service informs me that they do not in fact produce any such phone!

Do any list members know of any other landline phones with the talking
caller ID feature?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Darran
