Thank you, Chris.  This makes sense now.  I have only just been introduced
to Remote Desktop.  It will be something to follow up after the bank
holidays.

Hi.
There is no alternative for one simple reason. What is displayed on the 
client machine is a bitmap image of the remote machine, which screen 
readers running in their normal fashion cannot decipher. This is why 
both JAWS and Window-Eyhes has specific support for Remote Desktop.
