I should correct you, in case anyone makes a mistake.
The latest 3G version doesn't have Voiceover, you need the 3GS. This is
important, because if you go for 3G, you will get the 8GB version.

For your first question:
The iPod Touch has speech, but not the 8GB model. I recommend you get the
latest 3G version. Speech, or voiceover as it's known can be enabled from
within iTunes. So it can be used by a blind user totally out of the box as
long as iTunes is accessible on the PC. Note for info that the iPhone and
iPad also has voiceover. Note that the iPad is not available in the UK
until May/June, however I've tried it and the voiceover there is better than
that on both the iPod Touch and iPhone.

Hi all
Advising my friend who is thinking of getting an IPod or mp3 player, so just
a few questions and things:
1. Now the IPod Touch and apparrently the Nano has speech, but does it have
to be some specific model or something? Also, is it already on them
directly? I mean, if a person bought an IPod Touch now, what would you need
to do extra to have speech?
2. The IPod Shuffle has speech, but apparrently the only way you can control
it is by using the Apple Earphones, is this true?
3. We knew of the Zen Stone being screenless, but that apparrently no longer
exists, or we can't find them, so what other mp3 players apart from the IPod
are at the moment fine to use for a totally blind person?
