If  BT is called out,  to do a repair, they will always
charge  if the fault is found not to be BT's  responsibility.

Subject: [access-uk] Helping a VI person with BT repair problems
(she's now been cut off!)

I met someone at a conference yesterday who is registered blind was
saying how she'd had a terrible phone line for years.

As I understand it, BT have now charged her £300 but the problem still
persists.

She said that as she hadn't paid it, they'd cut her off. I said I'd
try and help, but of course, BT won't speak to me, and say she needs
to call them (without a phone line!).

Before I call her back, is there a helpline number for this kind of
thing? Of course, the ombudsman would be a last resort, but they need
to know every other option has been exhausted first.

I know this may be more of a "consumer rights" forum question, but I
thought I'd try here first.

Any ideas? Thanks.
