Peter,

I don't know what you did, but there is no way that swapping a cable from one
USB port to another should cause the house circuit break to trip. Absolutely
no way.

George

Thank you for the advice. I did as you suggested and received no error report.
However, I tried re-connecting the embosser to alternative USB ports and this
caused the House circuit breaker to trip on two or three occasions. I think at
this point I will hold off till I can move the PC back to its normal place and
then if the problem persists I will ask somebody sighted to have a look and see
if he can see what is going on. At that point and if all else fails I will take
up your offer of contacting Kevin.

Peter

Hi Peter,

It is entirely possible that you may have re-connected the Index Cable USB end
into a different USB port on your PC. This is quite a common problem in some
configurations.

My suggestion is as follows. Send a small file to the embosser as you normally
would, ensuring that the embosser is powered up and on-line, and connected to
one of the USB ports.

If you do not get any error report, the chances are that the document will have
spooled.

Now do nothing else but unplug the embosser from the USB port, and select
another, giving it 10-20 seconds or so to see if the embosser fires into life.
Do this with all USB ports in the hope that one of them will be active.

If all else fails, give Kevin a call at our office, and he should be able to
help further. Just mention to him that I have suggested this.

George.

Using Windows 7

Because of decorating I had to move my pc and embosser to another room - total
chaos.

I thought I had re-assembled everything properly but the embosser does not
braille. I have used a parallel connecter to the embosser with a USB connecter
to the pc. I have not changed any settings and have a message in the system
tray saying that a document is pending for printing. I can't remember whether
previously I used a parallel to parallel connection before and if so this is
presumably the reason for the problem. Would anybody be able to confirm what I
should be using?

Many thanks.
