Hi Elanor. Don't throw it away! I am willing to either have a cable made up for you, or repair the box if it needs fixing. they're great peaces of kit, you know when the inlaws call! anyway, if you can arange to have it sent to me in the post i'll take a look at it for you and supply the correct cable. Is your landline phone still working? if you plug your filter in to the socket and then your phone/caller ID in to the filter, that should have you covered. Perhaps we should discuss this via phone, that will speed things up. Often via email details can be missed, or i may not understand your setup. Could i give you a call at some point please at your convenience to speed up the exchange? if so, please drop me an email off list:

mobeeniqbal@xxxxxxxxx

i am also willing to continue via email if phone is not possible.

all the best,

Mo.

Well now this is interesting, I purchased a cable as I say for 7 pounds at curry's today. It had the correct ends, an RJ11 which I plugged in to the talking box and the other end I can only describe as flat with a clip. The type one plugs in to a BT phone socket. Now that did not work, the phone rang as I said and the box announced the incoming call number. Could not hear though so a waste there. Then I had an idea of trying a cable from my phone as again it had the correct end peaces. This time the box did not speak but the phone rang *smile*. That has to be an Irishism, I am Irish for those who know me *smile*. This is why I am now totally confused and it looks like the box may be going to the bin but I've loved it really as it is great hearing the incoming number.

Hi Elanor.

I have a fair few cables which i'm willing to send you free of charge to resolve your problem. There are 2 types of RJ11 cable, where 2 cores are connected and where 4 cores are connected. I am afraid i'm a little lost as to which cable is faulty, could you please describe the setup from your phone socket to the various devices you have connected? Then we can proceed.

all the best,

Mo.

Hi All
Years ago, I purchased from RNIB an import from Canada, I think of a talking number announcement for incoming land-line numbers. Sorry I cannot be more specific in describing this small battery operated white container. Anyway it worked great until I broke the clip that plugs in to the phone socket or adaptor. The other end is an RJ11 end. On the taling box, there are 2 of these RJ11 sockets. Now I tried to replace my cable today but with no success. I bought what I thought was the identical lead though it did describe itself as an extension lead. It does not work. The telephone numbers are announced OK but the phone only rings once and then the person at the other end can only hear crackling. i tried this myself from my mobile phone and I think it just sounds like as if there is no broadband noise protector. Cannot think of the exact word I want but all I hear is that crackling noise. Anyone got any idea what the exact name of the cable is that I am looking for?
