Hi Alfred.

I currently have something over 200 titles in my Audible Library, so if you define that as a good experience *smile*, then most definatly I have. I use an IPhone and have never used a Kindle Keyboard, so perhaps someone more informed than I can answer that question for you. If you are familiar with talking books from the RNIB then you will know that from time to time they get permission to use a book from Naxos, Isis etc. While this is excellent and commendable, it often takes quite some time for RNIB to bring out the very latest titles unless of course we are talking about very high profile books, where as Audible has a raft of Christmas releases already on its shelves, a few of which I am currently enjoying. In short, if you want to buy high quality digital audio books which you can enjoy on most devices, you want the very latest releases or you just want to choose from a very diverse range of books then Audible is without doubt the best audio book site on the net. RNIB does have its place though so I do maintain a subscription to their talking books service.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Thanks Ibrahim, to clarify, I could listen to an audable book read by human
voice on KK and this would be a higher quality of reading in terms of
punctuation, pace etc, than the tts on KK at present. How about navagating
a book though, I would be restricted on KK. Have you found Audable a good
experience?

Hi Alfred.

Audible is a digital audio book store where in you can buy and download from a catalogue of over 60 thousand books, magazines and periodicals. They are all read by human narrators, many of the commercial audio book distributors like Audio go and Naxos titles are available and you can join as an audible member giving you credits to spend on anything on the site. You should be able to listen on a Kindle Keyboard, however many other devices are supported including many if not all of the specialist players such as the Victor Stream, Plextalk Pocket, Milestone, Book Sense etc. etc. There are also apps available for listening to and managing your Audible library for both PC and many smartphones including the IPhone and Android devices.

All the best, I hope this has wetted your appetite to explore the site and see what interests you.

I have heard a lot of discussion on list re audable but do not really know
anything about it other than one can purchase and download MP3 files, i.e.
books. Does Audable offer more than the Talking Book library DAISY books in terms of choice or is this just an alternative means of listening to a book?
I now have the KK and am wondering what the advantages of joining Audable
might be. Are all books read with American accents? Is the speech a TTS
like the KK or read by some human? Thanks.
