George

Do you think it would be worth drafting a letter that we could send or is i=
t better to do individual.

OK. Here's Julie Howell's response on the
Tesco/Sainsburys issue. (My was she quick to
respond - 6 minutes!!)
=20
Reading between the lines, I rather suspect she is
asking you all to help her/RNIB make a first test
case under the revised DDA due to come into effect
very soon. Let's all give her the support she
deserves. Julie is one who works very hard here.
=20
Can we now move on to other topics please, pending
responses from the two companies involved?
=20
George.

Hi George=20

Please note that I'm on leave til 16 August.=20

No thanks to the 100 messages (though thanks for
the offer!).=20

Instead, anyone who has a complaint about either
Tesco.com or Sainsbury's to You is advised to
write to the companies concerned with details of
their complaint. Anyone doing so may send a copy
of their correspondence to me at
julie.howell@xxxxxxxxxxx (or my postal address:
Julie Howell, RNIB, Bakewell Rd, Orton Southgate,
Peterborough, Cambs PE2 6XU).

They should ask the company to acknowledge the
complaint, ask for details of how the complaint
will be addressed, mention that the complaint will
be sent by copy to RNIB, and ask for a timescale
for when any proposed changes will be made to the
site. They should also assert that they are a
customer with disabilities and that the service
provider has a duty under the 1995 Disability
Discrimination Act to ensure that disabled
customers are not discriminated against on the
grounds of disability.

As it happens, I am meeting with Tesco.com on 19
August, so if anyone copies me into correspondence
with Tesco.com prior to that date I'll be able to
raise it at my meeting with them.

Best regards=20

Hi Julie,=20
 =20
Total mayhem seems to have broken out over changes
to both the above web=20
sites. Comments from one access-uk member was, "I
have just spoken to=20
Sainsburys customer care, and was told that the
site cannot be changed=20
as it cost to much money to have it done."=20
 =20
Are you on to this, or do you want me to forward
around 90 - 100 or more=20
messages on the subject? (Please don't ask me to
filter out the best of=20
them!!)=20
 =20
All the best,=20
