David, I think each book needs to be in a separate folder, under Audio Books.

Good luck on your review Jackie.
The  Quick Start
Guide should get a re-write  but actually it is not as bad as the EBO 10
version so  should not be too much work to do.
The Audio Books folder so far only seems to recognise Audio Books in single Mp3
file format which may be an issue but I need to investigate this more as I may
have mis-copied files across.

Hi David
Yes I’m with you on your comments, mine was set to Shanghai too until I
sussed that out and changed it.
I’m really pleased with it so far, I quite like the size and flexibility of
using hotkeys or changing them. For instance, I have changed hotkey 3 from
offering the time and date as hotkey 1 gives the time anyway. I’ve chosen
VTuner instead which gi ves me direct access to the folder for radio and
podcasts.
Also like you, I think the choice of voices is excellent, no Eloquence but then
that was never going to happen anyway. 😊
I was messing around with the FM radio last night, you can adjust the scanning
to automatic or manual if you want to. The sad thing with using the radio
though is that it doesn’t stand up properly so lying it flat means the
extended aerial protrudes away from you. It could have done with a pull-out
stand on the bottom like my little Pure Move has.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] Re: Evo E12 - Early First thoughts
I took delivery of the Evo 12 yesterday and just to report it is significantly
different from the Evo 10. Physically it is very different, much bigger than
the 10, it also has a different key layo ut in addition to an telescopic aerial
for FM Radio usage. It also has significantly larger sound with 2 rather than 1
speakers.
This does of course make the unit much more bulkier than the Evo 10 but it will
still just about fit into my shirt pocket, though will probably need further
securing with a lanyard attached to the provided slot.
I am still working my way through it but the firmware seems very different as
well, as people have mentioned there is now a vastly expanded array of
available voices from Ivona, Nuance and Acapella available for eBooks. High
marks for investin g in such a range of voices for us, I have never known any
other specialist provider invest in the rights to so many voices, in practical
terms the range of voices is as high as I would personally realistically use on
my iPhone using something like VoiceDream.
It has accepted a 256GB SD card without need for     reformatting.
I am very pleased that they have expanded the number of hotkeys from 3 to 10,
this was a feature I requested for the Evo 10, you can now switch not just
between 3 functions but pretty much everything you need to reach on the player
instantly., switching seamlessly through Radio, Daisy, Audio Books, eBooks,Â
time and date announcements  et.
On initial first look the Daisy App is vastly improved over the E10 incarnation
with increased navigation options and far more sensible speed increments. I
also requested this as I am sure did others so it is good that they have
listened to feedback.
Poor first marks are for the lack of an included manual though Jackie has
helpfully sent me through a Quick Start Guide.
The Guide al so needs re-writing into more conventional English to aid clarity.
Also the section on Wi-Fi configuration should probably be relocated to earlier
in the guide, perhaps to just after key layout description as I think most
people will need this.
My unit also thought it was in Shanghai and although I was able to change
this by rooting through settings I think it would be more useful for time
settings etc if the unit realised it was in the UK. Once I made this change and
set the time to automatically update through internet the time adjusted
correctly.
It would also be useful to populate the Internet Radio Folder with some
stations to get people started. Having sa id that the stations I circulated Â
a couple of years ago seemed to start without issue and I can repost these if
people need them.
As I say early days for me, it appears that there is now a specialist Audio
Book as well as Daisy app, though I am not sure yet. It was also a feature I
requested to distinguish Audio Books from Music so here is hoping. There is
certainly an Audio Books folder and hotkey function as well as Daisy now.
All in all very promising on early first look, I hope some of the firmware
improvements can be ported back for Evo 10 users.

Hey Jackie, you can add this device as a fisher price toy be it more
expensive.
Also why no t these days does it not have digital radio on it?

Hi Clive
I agree with your comments. I think the buttons are quite close
together, even with tactile markings, and may cause a problem for
those whose finger sensitivity is not as it could be. You do get
used to it though, but something worth noting. I also agree with you
about the aerial and the radio not having a stand or stable bottom.
For those who know it, the Pure Move radio is very similar in size to
& gt;> the Evo12, it really does feel like a radio when you first take it
out of the box. The sound is really good, and there are multiple
voices to choose from. The one thing I really don't like about it
though is the alphanumeric system it uses. I tho ught I was playing
with my little grandson Ezra when inputting letters, A for Apple, B
for Banana, C for Cat, D for Dog, E for Egg, etc. Come on, that's just
plain daft!
When you enter the letter S, it confusingly says See or Sea, which
makes you wonder for a split second if you entered a letter C. That
definitely needs to be modified,
   an
    d sped up as well.
I have been figuring out how to play podcasts and Internet radio stations,
and have quite a few stored now. You can either search by entering
letters and digits to find what you want, or you can search by country,
genre, etc. I had great difficulty finding the space to separate words,
but Steve solved that one, you don't use 0 as you would on the VRS, you tap
number 1, then arrow right once.
So once you search for a podcast or station, you can add it to your
Favourites list by pressing the menu key, or stream it live. Let me tell
you that there are literally hundreds you can look for in comparison to
OoTunes on the VRS.
I'll do my best to help with queries, I'm still learning and playing myself.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] Evo E12 - a great product!
Hello everyone,
I took delivery yesterday of my Evo E12 and I am very pleased with it. I
soon ha d it connected to our wifi network, manually entering the password.
The FM radio reception is excellent and I now have it tuned to our local
BBC radio station. The sound is superb through its stereo speakers. I
have noticed it doesn't stand up very well on its bottom edge and has to be
leant against something to stop it falling over. This is necessary when
using the FM radio which needs the aerial extended.
One thing to note: The buttons are quite small and close together. The
dots help, especially the two dots on the 5 button, and it is easy to press
the wrong one until you are used to the layout.
;> Having come from the Victor Reader Stream which has internet radio
playlists and podcast feeds, how is this done on the Evo E12? Any help
with this is most appreciated.
Best wishes,
Clive Pallett
